Hey ! My name is James

I photograph elopements in the Canadian Rockies for couples who want something real. My approach is rooted in calm guidance, intentional planning, and storytelling that feels effortless — never forced.


With a background in luxury hospitality, I help you choose locations that align with your vision, shape a timeline that feels spacious, and navigate logistics without overwhelm. On the day itself, I offer gentle direction when needed, then step back so moments can unfold naturally.

James Banwell captured our most precious moments in the Canadian Rockies! He arrived 30 minutes early, had excellent communication, and adapted quickly to poor timing of light for a 2 pm elopement with the sun shining bright in our eyes. These pictures and my review do not do him justice. He got photos back to me in less 24 hours with more to come after he edits. We are truly lucky and blessed to have had James as our elopement photographer. He was worth more than he charged! He ran up and down the mountain side to get the right photos at the right light. If you are ever lucky enough to book James as your photographer, you will not regret it.
